The Ballet Physique: Back On Pointe Review
As you guys know, I’m a sucker for a good barre fitness workout. They’re fun, low-impact, and work your muscles in a totally unique way. So when The Ballet Physique barre studio sent me early access to their at-the-time soon-to-be-released DVD set, I was pretty excited to try it out.
Perfect Port de Bras is a 15-minute, no-impact workout that works your arms, chest, and back for sleek, supportive arms during dance (though it’s fine for non-dancers as well!). All you need is a little space and a resistance band or two, though you could make it work using a pair of dumbbells as well.
Sorry for the low quality; people asked for the video no matter the quality. I’d like to make a high-quality video of this workout once I have the means.
Right when i was thinking about how out of shape my arms had become (I used to have biceps! the hell?) this video came up. I could do it all, so I’d say it’s for beginners, but it provides a really good upper arm workout while also teaching you a thing or two about ballet.
If you are not a ballerina (which I am not) this may hurt (ow).
Also note that you need at least one resistance band. Or dumbbells
I am a) glad you liked it and b) sorry you’re in pain.
Remember that you can place your hands wider on your band to make movements easier.
Sorry about the earlier issues! Here’s the full video of Lauren and I answering your questions and talking about stretching for the splits and improved backbends.

Rookie Mistakes In The Gym (by BroScienceLife)
Warning: there is a lot of inappropriate language, one slur (gy**y), and a lot of mockery in this video. NSFW.
This is my first attempt at spoken word.
It was done in one take.
Perfect
I wish the answer to “I’m fat,” wasn’t, “No, but you look gorgeous!”
But instead was, “Yes, and you’re gorgeous.”
When I am a mother, I will not tell my daughter
“Your eye makeup really makes your eyes POP
And look bigger
You look so good with eyeliner on”
Because that would suggest that the other 10% of the time
When she is not wearing make up
Because no one is watching her
Her eyes are too small.
Personally, I hate the way make up makes me look
I hate the way make up feels
And I hate the way make up makes me feel
Because it makes me feel like I am imperfect
Because even with make up on, no one looks perfect
And if I’ve already painted an unnatural face onto the one I was born with
And I still don’t look perfect
What does that mean about when I haven’t put on a face?
Don’t I look good au naturel?
With eyes that were built in to my face
A nose big enough to breathe and inhale and gasp and smell
Lips the perfect shade of pink
That I was meant to have
That pronounces the amount of blood rushing to my face
Cheeks however ruddy enough to represent that I am alive
A figure made from eating and exercising however much I want
The exact right amount that makes me happiest
Isn’t that what’s most important?
A face full of make up denotes that I can be improved upon
A body constantly dieting indicates that I am striving to be better
And striving to be better means that I am not good enough already
But when I am a mother
When I am a mother, I will tell my daughter that acne is a sign of growing up
That stretch marks are tiger stripes that represent a warrior soul is in this body
That body hair means that she is a woman
Grown up and able to make her own choices
Independent
Strong
And I will tell her that even with eyes that don’t POP
She is perfect.
