“This may be a silly question, but my friend who is a fitness junkie says to drink cold water rather than room temperature water. Why is this?”
Some people do it with the belief that the body will burn more calories in an attempt to warm up the water after you drink it. I think that it’s nonsense, and if you’re worried about the itty bitty fractions of calories used up in that process, you’re way too worried about these things.
I just drink cold water because room temperature water tastes gross, in my opinion.
